Divorce
With decades of experience guiding clients through the many complexities of divorce, the Travers | Dombroski team zealously advocates for your interests through settlement negotiations, mediation, arbitration, or litigation. Our highly skilled attorneys have assisted clients with myriad straightforward and unique issues concerning divorce, division of assets, alimony, child custody, and child support. We know every client has particular needs and changing circumstances. We provide a custom-tailored strategy to further your specific goals, with an unparalleled level of quality representation each step along the way.
Child-Related Matters
Child custody, parenting time, child support, and other child-related matters are best handled by a law firm familiar with resolving these complex, often contentious family law issues, either through negotiated settlement or litigation. Our attorneys are well equipped to advise and guide you through the legal process related to any child-related matters, including some of the most complicated cases, such as requests for removal out of state as well as interstate and international custody disputes. The Firm also has considerable experience utilizing outside experts to help achieve the goals of our clients related to these critical decisions for children and families.
Modifications
& Appeals
Uncertainties and unforeseen changes regularly cause our clients to rethink their plans. Our Firm has helped those clients modify judgments to better reflect their new circumstances. Alimony, child custody, child support, and other issues may require re-calibration, and our attorneys are here to help you navigate changing climates.

Our Firm also has considerable experience at the appellate level, having successfully argued numerous cases in front of the Massachusetts Court of Appeals, the Supreme Judicial Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. We carry a proud tradition of being changemakers, representing clients in several cases resulting in reported decisions establishing precedent, or new domestic relations law. We have the necessary expertise to skillfully guide and advocate for you throughout the process of appealing an order or judgment.
Pre- & Post-Nuptial
Agreements
Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements are a common and important aspect of marriage, and a well-prepared agreement can protect you and your interests against unforeseeable circumstances. Our extensive experience in family law allows us to negotiate an agreement specific to your personal concerns and designed to firmly establish your rights into the future.
Contempt & Enforcement
Travers | Dombroski works for you to help enforce agreements and court judgments that other parties may break or ignore. Even though there is an expectation that all parties will abide by a court's order, a client may need to seek further action against non-abiding parties. We will fight for you before, during, and after judgment to protect your interests.
International Custody Disputes
A particularly complex area of the law includes international custody disputes and parental kidnapping. In our increasingly global society, a parent may need or wish to relocate to another country, or a child may be born to parents who are citizens of different countries. Additionally, there are circumstances where a parent has unlawfully fled to another country without the agreement of the other parent or court permission, requiring emergency action in the courts. With years of experience representing international clients, including in Hague Convention proceedings in both the U.S. District Court and before the U.S. Court of Appeals, the Firm is well equipped to assist you with these issues.
Interstate Custody & Removal
For decades, we have successfully represented clients seeking to move outside of the Commonwealth with the parties’ children, or remain in the Commonwealth with the children over the other parent’s objection. Clients come to our Firm from all over the country to represent them in the Massachusetts courts. Our attorneys are well-versed in all of the relevant law in this area, including Massachusetts removal statutes, the Massachusetts Child Custody Jurisdiction Act, and the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act.
Domestic Violence & Restraining Orders
Domestic violence is a sensitive, prevalent issue facing many of our clients and society at large often quietly, behind closed doors. Abuse Prevention Orders (commonly known as Restraining Orders) are designed to protect individuals in fear of serious physical harm from a spouse, intimate partner, family, or household member, due to a history or incident of physical violence and/or threats of violence. Through passionate advocacy our attorneys have extensive experience obtaining protections through Abuse Prevention Orders as well as defending against them, where warranted, in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts and District Courts.
